I had forgotten about that case, remember thinking it sounded strange at the time

Re: Caroline Crouch Murder
Did seem obvious the husband was involved from the start.

IIRC, his story fell apart quite quickly. I think even a few local journalists out there were saying that his statements were quickly contradicted by evidence police found at the scene (which, now that we know, might well have been the phone data etc).

Re: Caroline Crouch Murder
Lee's right, it was blatantly obvious it was the husband right from the start and I reckon the coppers were just giving him the rope to hang himself while they quietly gathered the evidence. When the story broke in the Daily Mail, almost all the readers' comments were along the lines of 'husband did it/story doesn't add up/look closer to home' etc. His story was so preposterous he was never going to get away with it.

There's another news story that's gone quiet of a British female back packer who has gone missing in the Pyrenees. I wonder where this one will lead.

Trunds - The ridiculous story didn't exactly help either. Why would they have murdered her in cold blood knowing she was a young mother, not even the most hard core criminal would do that AND leave a witness. he wouldn't have got away with it anyway, but at least try to come up with something more believable.

The police were apparently on to him straight away. There was enough evidence (her text messages to friends that night about leaving him, her browser looking for hotels) to lead them to him anyway, but it was blatantly obvious it was him as soon as the news broke, IMO.
